Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus,
I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

St. Alphonsus Liguori (A.D. 1696-1787)

At Your feet, O my Jesus,
I prostrate myself and I offer you
repentance of my contrite heart,
which is humbled in its nothingness
and in your holy presence.

I adore you in the Sacrament of your love,
the ineffable Eucharist.

I desire to receive you
into the poor dwelling that my heart offers you.

While waiting for the happiness of sacramental communion,
I wish to possess you in spirit.

Come to me, O my Jesus,
since I, for my part, am coming to you!

May your love embrace my whole being in life and in death.

I believe in you,
I hope in you,
I love you. Amen.
